JACKSON- The Mississippi Republican Party announced the endorsements of Chief Justice Bill Waller, Justice Mike Randolph, and Josiah Coleman following a unanimous vote by the State Executive Committee today.
“I applaud the Mississippi Republican Party for making these endorsements, and I would like to extend my support to Chief Justice Bill Waller, Justice Mike Randolph, and Josiah Coleman,” Gov. Phil Bryant said. “Chief Justice Waller and Justice Randolph have served with dignity and honor, and have brought balance to the Court. I am confident that Josiah Coleman will serve in a similar manner.”
“Over the past decade, the business climate of this state has made significant progress, thanks in large part to fair decisions by our Mississippi Supreme Court,” said Joe Nosef, Chairman of the Mississippi Republican Party. “During their time on the Court, Justices Waller and Randolph’s decisions have consistently demonstrated fairness and integrity. Josiah Coleman is a man of character who has built a very solid reputation in private practice, and he will be a fair and impartial judge on the Court.
“We are confident that these candidates will support the values of the Mississippi Republican Party and the Party is proud to support their candidacies.”
Chief Justice Bill Waller was first elected to the Supreme Court in 1996, and has served as Chief Justice since January 2009. He represents the Central District. Justice Mike Randolph was appointed by Gov. Haley Barbour to represent the Southern District in April 2004 and won a full-term that November. Josiah Coleman is a candidate for the Northern District seat currently held by retiring Justice George Carlson.
